The Pierce College Library contains a collection of over 103,000 volumes, including books and materials required for supplementary study, and a representative collection of recreational reading material. The library subscribes to over 150 periodicals and newspapers, has an extensive microfilm and microfiche collection, and many electronic resources. The online book catalog, and current print and online periodical indices help locate information in books, newspapers, and journals. Professional librarians are always available to assist library patrons.
The library is centrally located on the main campus mall. Facilities include study carrels, group study rooms, a typing room, and copiers. Further information is available in the library.

Library Cards
Your Pierce student I.D. card is also your library card. Only currently enrolled students with their I.D. cards, Pierce staff and Pierce faculty may check out books or periodicals from the library.
Loans, Renewals & Fines
Circulating Books
Students may check out a total of ten books at a time with a maximum of five on one subject. Books are loaned out for two weeks at a time and renewed up to two times as long as no one else has a hold placed on the book. Books are renewed at the circulation desk or online through the book catalog- not over the telephone. Overdue books are charged at a rate of twenty cents per day, counting only the days the library is open.
Periodicals
Students may check out a total of ten periodicals at a time with a maximum of five of the same title. Periodicals are loaned out for one week at a time and renewed up to two times as long as no one else has placed a hold on the periodical. Periodicals may be renewed only at the periodicals desk - not over the telephone. Overdue periodicals are charged at a rate of ten cents per day, counting only the days the library is open.
Reserve Text Books
Some instructors put a copy of their current textbook on reserve in the library. Students can search the Online Reserve Desk for a textbook or ask a librarian for help locating a book. Reserve books vary in their overdue fine rates.

LIBRARY SCIENCE 102: INTERNET RESEARCH METHODS (CSU) - 1 UNIT
Recommended: Knowledge of Windows and basic keyboarding skills.
This course focuses on how to locate and evaluate information sources found on the Internet. These research skills will help you throughout your entire academic career.
