Professors at Pierce College are available to you in the classroom and after class during office hours. Our classes are small, and you'll find that our professors are always willing to talk to you! You'll find additional individual help and support in our many learning laboratories and skill centers, as well as in the International Students Center.

At Pierce College, we offer opportunity. We have an open door. Your investment of time in your studies will allow you to take advantage of this opportunity. Our personal approach provides you with the opportunity to transfer to any University in the United States open to you, without losing time, at lower cost.

 


COLLEGE ADMISSION

Students who have achieved a TOEFL score of 450 paper based, 133 computer based or 45 internet based are permitted to enroll in a regular college-level classes and choose from the following programs:


A placement test ensures that all students enroll at the appropriate level English course.

  • 450 paper based, 133 computer based or 45 internet based TOEFL required.
  • All other requirements for International Students must be fulfilled.

The Creative Processes in Action
Communications and Fine Arts are among the most active programs at Pierce College. These programs combine hands-on participation in the studio or on stage with classroom study, weaving together the practice and history of art, literature, language, history and culture.

Art programs cover a broad spectrum of media, including oil, watercolor, and graphic design; sculpture; ceramics; drawing; jewelry design. Communications programs offer experience in journalism and preparation for majors in film studies. The photojournalism program teaches the techniques necessary to compete in the world. Performance programs prepare for careers on or off the stage, screen, and television, and in the studio.

Mastering Innovation and Technology. Science is one of the most exciting adventures of today. Science, which is the Latin word for "knowledge," springs out of our human impulses to analyze the physical world, and leads us to explore the invisible laws and structures above and beneath its surface. In our classrooms and labs we study past adventurers and their discoveries, not in awe, but in preparation.

Life Sciences and Physical and Earth Sciences provide the student with the many models, processes,techniques and structures necessary for further study and career preparation.

The Nursing program prepares the student to be an integral part of the patient's healing process.

Engineering programs train students to design and analyze problems and processes using principles of mathematics and the natural sciences.

The Mathematics program provides the underlying rigor to support these science programs as well as continue a career in mathematics.

The Science faculty at Pierce College is widely regarded as among the most elite and cutting edge in California and the United States; they believe that commitment to teaching the individual student is at the heart of successful student preparation. The college offers intensive hands-on experience in biotechnology and DNA techniques. Today's Knowledge For Tomorrow's Change
The Liberal Arts majors allow students to tailor a course of study that best suits their individual needs and abilities. The program prepares students for upper division study at a four-year college or university in a variety of liberal arts fields, such as political science, sociology, psychology, history, and law. Some students also use the Liberal Arts majors as background for graduate work in a related subject, such as political science and law.
