How to Enroll in the PACE Program
Pierce Accelerated College Education Program
We are extremely happy that you have chosen to inquire about PACE.
PACE allows you to earn your AA Degree in Liberal Arts and also to fulfill transfer requirements for the college or university of your choice. To do this, you need to fulfill your general education requirements, earn a minimum of 60 transfer units, and maintain a minimum 2.7 GPA.
To join the PACE program, please follow these four steps:
Apply for
admission to Pierce College. Students may apply to Pierce College in
person at the Admissions and Records Office, or online using the
student information
system. For information on admission requirements and how to apply,
see the Admissions and Records webpage.
Complete
the assessment process to determine English and math placement levels.
Students who have not previously taken a college level English or math
course must complete assessment testing at the
Pierce College
Assessment Center. Students who have taken college level English or
math courses outside the L.A. Community College District may have their
placement levels determined by showing transcripts of prior coursework
to the Assessment Center staff. If you took an Assessment Test more than
2 years ago and never completed an English or math class, you
must be re-assessed. If you have any additional questions
regarding assessment testing, please click on the Assessment
Center link above.
Submit a PACE
application to the PACE office. The PACE Program application is
available in the Pierce College schedule of classes, in the PACE office,
and here on the PACE website (see below). Completed applications are accepted by mail,
fax, or in person. Click on the "Contact Us" link on this page for our
location, address, and fax number. Submission of the PACE application does not automatically make you a PACE student!!

The Bridge Program is designed to meet the needs of those students who do not place in either English 101or Math 125 on the Assessment Test. You must be English 101 eligible in order to enter the PACE program.
If you do not place in English 101, you will need to take the preparatory course/s. The Bridge Program offers English 21, 28, and 101. We teach each of these courses in the PACE 8-week format. This allows you to take two English courses, if necessary, in one semester. If your Assessment Test places you in English 101, you may take the course during any quarter. English 101 is the only Bridge Class in English which is transferable.
If you do not place above Math 125, you will need to do the preparatory work to reach that level. The Bridge Program offers Math 112, 115, & 125 each semester. Math 112 is a three-unit course and does not meet on Saturdays.
Math 112, 115, and 125 are offered as full 15-week semester courses.
