An introduction to all aspects of the Theater Arts. Learn acting, staging, and technical terminology. The historical development of Theater. The importance of audience involvement. To foster an understanding and appreciation for performing arts. For majors and non-majors alike. Fulfills your Arts/Humanties requirement for degree or transfer.

THEATER 225 -- BEGINNING DIRECTION
Section 5256 Mon & Wed. 4:00pm - 5:25pm
Recommended PreReq: Theater 270 (Beginning Acting) AND Theater 300 (or higher) (Technical Theater)
Must co-enroll in Section 5257 of Theater 291 (Rehearsal & Performances)
Putting it all together! An introduction to the creative development of a theatrical piece, including text selection, text analysis, casting, scheduling, technical staging, and directing actors. Each student will direct a one-act play or scene.

THEATER 265 -- MOVEMENT FOR THE ACTOR
Section 3403 -- Thurs. 3:30pm to 6:40pm
Create an awareness of stage presence, body awareness, and use of physical space on stage. Explore character development though changes in movement and posture. Physical exercises for actors. Introduction to classical styles of movement and staged fighting.

Your chance to take center stage! Learn or refine your performance skills through acting exercises, hands-on script analysis and scene study (rehearsals and performances) with fellow student actors. (Intermediate and Advanced Acting courses are also available. Advanced course emphasizes Classical styles, such as Shakespeare.)
