AUDITION GENERAL INFORMATION

Auditions for all Pierce College Theater productions are open to the community.  Auditions are normally held around the first week of each semester.

It is recommended that students with no prior acting experience or training first complete Theater Arts 270 -- Beginning Acting.

Being involved in a Theater Arts production is very rewarding, but involves a reliable commitment of time & energy.

"Sides" (selected scene dialogues) are provided at auditions, but all candidates must read the entire play prior to auditioning! Plays may be purchased at Samuel French bookstore, checked out at public or college libraries, or borrowed overnight from the Theater Arts Department Office for a $5 deposit.

All people who are cast in a production must apply to the college at the Admissions & Records Office (Administration Bldg.) and enroll as a student in the "Rehearsals and Performances" or "Play Production" courses.  "Add cards" will be provided by the Director at the first cast meeting.

It costs $26 per unit to enroll (for California residents), plus $14 in mandatory health and student rep. fees and $27 in optional parking & student government fees.  Cast members are, in most cases, also expected to purchase their own stage make-up.

If you are financially unable to afford the enrollment and health fees, please see the Financial Aid Office staff in the College Services Building or call (818) 719-6428.
