The mission of the Department of Nursing
at Los Angeles Pierce College is to educate students to become entry
level practitioners of nursing. Completion of the prescribed curriculum
qualifies the graduate to apply for licensure by examination as
a registered nurse in the State of California.
Nursing students receive clinical experience
concurrently with classroom instruction for approximately 25 to
30 hours per week. Local hospital and other health agencies provide
the clinical facilities where students administer direct nursing
care to patients under the supervision of nursing faculty.
LVN-to-RN, 30 unit option, Foreign Nurse
Graduate and Transfer programs are available for eligible students.
Contact the Nursing Department for details.
( The Board of Registered Nursing may deny a license, regulated
by the Business & Professional Code Section 480, on such grounds
as: being convicted of a crime, acts of dishonesty, fraud or deceit,
etc. Applicants who have questions regarding limitations related
to licensure should contact the board of Registered Nursing.)
