MICHAEL PAWLICKI teaches music and humanities at Pierce,  including the Humanities Core Curriculum (11,12,14) and Humanities 61 (The Creative Process). He studied at SUNY Binghamton (BA) and UCLA (MA, Cand.Phil.)  In 1992he was honored to be chosen as one of the first mentor teachers in the L.A. Community College District. He writes program notes for a number of concert series and and is a pianist and composer.  His original compositions have been performed extensively in concert and in numerous radio broadcasts by the L.A. Composers Guild, Lyric Trio, Southwest Chamber, Guarneri Quartet, members of the Armadillo Quartet, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. The Overture to  "AN AMERICAN SUITE" premiered at the Bing Theatre at LACMA in 1995: it opens the musical of the same title, with both book and music by Mr. Pawlicki, and is to premiere locally in 1999.  His music has been presented in concert with Dori Cayemi, Quincy Jones, and conducted by Emmy-winner Mark Watters, and film composer Harry Manfredini ("Friday the 13th").  His own music has been used in educational films, including for PBS and for two other films.  In 1993 he was asked to arrange music for Arnold Schoenberg's granddaughter's wedding ("Gurreliede").
