Composition (Music 223). Students are taught both harmonic and contrapuntal techniques of the twentieth century. They are free to write in neo-Classicism, neo-Romanticism, Pandiatonicism, Polytonality, etc. Since students master form last, form is stressed.

Orchestration and Arranging I (Music 231) A study of all orchestral instruments, as to range, color, flexibility, etc. Scoring is done for string orchestra, woodwinds, and brasses.

Orchestration and Arranging II (Music 232) A continuation of Music 231, including individual projects, which may be for either orchestra or band.
